Located directly at the Tolhuiskanaal, and accessible by boat from the IJ, Studioninedots designed five linked volumes in a park-like setting. They vary in height, function and atmosphere, are grouped around patios, with the collective space at the heart of the complex where tourists, business travelers and 'Amsterdammers' meet. The ground floor is high and transparent, leaving the landscape and interior transcending seamlessly. On the south side, the public restaurant, the terrace, the garden and the jetty make an attractive whole on the waterfront. The hotel is strongly anchored in the vicinity because of the fact that catering, art and amenities are being partnered with local partners. The hotel will be provided with plenty of outdoor space in a green setting, with a spacious waterfront terrace. The landscape was designed by Delva Landscape Architecture Urbanism.
Known for its clever design, YOTEL's rooms will save space through the adjustable SmartBed ™, a technowall with customizable ambient lighting and a smart TV that allows guests to stream their own content. In addition to comfortable rooms, YOTEL Amsterdam also has a restaurant and bar. All cabins and common areas will of course be provided with hi-speed and free Wi-Fi connection.
With sustainability and technology as an important spearhead for all partners, Being Development works closely with ARUP, Techniplan and Delva Landscape Architects to create a unique circular water system that collects, stores, filters and recycles water for multiple applications including a playfountain. It will also become an 'All-Electric' (gas-free) building, with the ambition to achieve a BREEAM Excellent certification. Structural advisor IMD is investigating whether a donor construction can be used for a part of the building.
